David Ornstein provides update on Jordan Henderson's new Liverpool contract situation

Jordan Henderson is set to sign a new long-term contract with Liverpool, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein. In July, there have been talks over the Reds' captain's possible exit from Anfield, with the two sides failing to make any progress in contract negotiations. However, now Ornstein claims Liverpool and Henderson have reached an agreement in principle over a new deal. The journalist added that Jurgen Klopp is understood to have played a huge role in the England international's decision. “It is important but it will happen,” the German boss said in a news conference on Friday. “We will sort it, however it will be. We will sort it. No doubt about that. It will get sorted.”
