Liverpool secured another victory with an impressive performance last night, and much of their current success is attributed to the return of a key player.
Since his comeback from injury last month, Diogo Jota has displayed exceptional form. In the recent match against Bournemouth, he showcased his prolific abilities by scoring two goals and providing an assist in a clinical display.
Despite being only 27 years old, Jota's contributions are somewhat underrated, particularly in his consistent goal-scoring prowess. This aspect is crucial, especially considering Liverpool's struggles with clinical finishing earlier in the season before his return.
Micah Richards, on the Rest is Football podcast, praised Jota and emphasized that he doesn't receive the recognition he deserves.
The pundit highlighted Jota's versatility, work ethic, and ability to make an impact whether starting or coming off the bench. He also emphasized Jota's crucial role in providing depth and making significant contributions during vital moments, urging that he deserves more credit for his performances.
“Can we talk about Jota? We talk about Salah so many times but every time Jota comes on he makes a difference, when he starts he makes a difference. And Salah, yes, rightly so we give him all the accolades but Jota is unbelievable," Richards said, via Rousing The Kop.
"He [Jota] is doing that and assisting when the pressure is on. His assist for Nunez’s goal was magnificent. I just think he needs to start getting the credit he deserves," he added.
