Gerard Pique: “It’s difficult to speak with Roger Federer”

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, who met several top tennis players like Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, admits he did not meet Roger Federer. Explaining the reasons in an interview to L'Equipe, Pique said: “I tried, like all the others, to speak with him (Federer), but it's difficult... I spoke with his agent, Tony Godsick. Everyone manages his career the way he believes it's the best. He may not be involved in a project like this. For me it's okay, I respect that choice.'” At this year's US Open Federer said that it was strange to see a footballer joining the tennis world. “Yeah, I am a footballer. But would it be more right if I was involved in tennis only as a businessman? Where are you from? What matters is what you want to get, your ideas and convictions. And I think our project benefits tennis and players.”
