Gareth Southgate speaks out on Jordan Henderson after Liverpool captain returns

Gareth Southgate has spoken out on Jordan Henderson as he was named in the 33-man provisional squad of England for Euro 2020. Henderson has returned to team training earlier this month after having undergone groin surgery back in February. He was an unused substitute in the Reds' last game of the season as Jurgen Klopp's side celebrated a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace. The final England squad for the Euros is set to be announced on Tuesday, June 1st. Ahead of England's Euro campaign, the Three Lions will face Austria and Romania in friendly matches. "We actually think Jordan, the level of work he has been able to achieve is very high," he told reporters. "What we haven't been able to see yet is him in the pitch in the match situation. "He is firmly on track to be involved in those games and to be able to play in those games. There would be no point in bringing him if that wasn't a possibility. "In some regards, he maybe ahead of others. He's had a long period out but he's had a high training load without the matches. "Jack Grealish has had a long period out, has played the matches but maybe hasn't had the intensity of the training so we've got see how they respond to training with the group. What their recovery is like and what other issues that could throw up. "These are, although they are heading in the right direction, not ideal situations and we have four of those with Kalvin and Harry Maguire as well. "We're just going to have to monitor all of those really closely."   source - LiverpoolECHO / Join us on Telegram!/ Follow us on Twitter!
