Departing Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has offered his thanks to all the messages he’s received. The Dutch international has confirmed he will quit Anfield this summer.

Wijnaldum has made 236 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 22 goals since he joined for £23million from Newcastle United in 2016. He helped the Reds to win the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League title. However, he will not be staying once his five-year contract expires on June 30.

Taking to social media, the 30-year-old told his 1.5million Twitter followers: “What an emotional rollercoaster the last few days. I’ve received so many great messages from fans, players and friends all over the world. Thank you all so much.”
