Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold has given the latest update on Everton and Tottenham's battle for Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The Lilywhites have been credited with an interest in the former Bayern Munich man.
Spurs now appear to have a strong rival in their hopes of signing the Danish international this summer, with Everton having reportedly bid £25 million for him ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, Gold was quick to question these reports in his video, saying:
“Let’s talk about Hojbjerg as well from Southampton. It’s a weird one, it’s a classic Tottenham scenario. We had all the news suddenly broke last night [Tuesday] about Everton and an accepted £25 million bid.
"From everything I’ve heard from people around Everton, there’s certainly talks going on, but no indication that any £25 million bid has gone in. Everton are looking at a much lower fee than that for a guy that’s in his last year [of his contract]. There also seems to be a real feeling that Hojbjerg wants Tottenham and [Jose] Mourinho.”
This is perhaps good news for Spurs if Everton haven’t actually bid £25 million for the Dane.
