Former Reds defender Phil Thompson reveals why Jurgen Klopp didn't take Manchester United job

Former the Reds defender Phil Thompson has revealed that Jurgen Klopp had an offer from Manchester United before he joined Liverpool, however, his wife said "it wasn't right". Speaking with TV2, Thompson said: "I interviewed Klopp for Sky, and I asked if he and Liverpool were created for each other. He looked at me and asked 'Why?'. "Then Klopp told me he could have taken over Manchester United, but his wife said it wasn't right. "When Liverpool arrived, his wife said it was right. There is something strange there. It is as if he's created for Liverpool." Klopp joined the Reds back in 2015. Since that, the German coach has won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2019 and was close to delivering the Premier League title as well.
