Five Manchester City players Pep Guardiola has reinvented since arriving at the Etihad

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is intensely focused on what specific players must do. He understands the roles and responsibilities the players have. He has extremely high expectations of those he works with. Guardiola has reinvented many players at Manchester City to build a team that is connected. Sergio Aguero was initially dropped from the City team in favour of Gabriel Jesus. But Guardiola believed he needed more and decided Jesus worked harder off the ball. Aguero recognised his responsibility and changed his game accordingly, he became a hard worker, more than just a goalscorer. Raheem Sterling has changed from pacy, skilful winger to prolific goalscorer. David Silva was a creative, clever, but he was dropped deeper and to the left in midfield, three by Guardiola and he flourished in his new role. Kyle Walker was a bombarding full-back. Guardiola curtailed his attacking license, requiring a more conservative role. Fernandinho was dropped into central defence in place of Vincent Kompany. And he has been excellent in this role.
