Failed Man City transfer which would have made them 'unstoppable'

Gary Neville believes a defensive partnership of Ruben Dias and Harry Maguire would have made Manchester City 'unstoppable.' City will soon be crowned champions and Dias has played a huge role in their march to the title. Neville thinks that City would be even better if they had Manchester United skipper Maguire partnering Dias. “Sometimes you can overcomplicate it and the obvious would be staring me in the face," Neville said when explaining the inclusion of Maguire and Kyle Walker in his Team of the Season. "To be fair, Kyle has become an outstanding performer in a defensive position for Manchester City. You think of Manchester City’s defensive record, he has been more disciplined this season in how he plays and he’s become an important part of what they’re doing. "John Stones has had an outstanding season but when he’s cuddled by Dias and Walker, it’s a big thing. The pace on one side, Dias is outstanding on the other. Harry Maguire is the outstanding centre-back other than Dias in the league. "That’s nothing to do with it being Manchester United, but to play every single game as he’s done - he’s been reliable, he’s been consistent, he’s started to show authority. "I think Manchester United, to be fair, have got a good player. Manchester City missed out on him a couple of years ago, if they had him and Dias together, they’d be almost unstoppable.”
