The City midfielder's current contract with the club expires at the end of this season. This season, Fernandinho has made overall 33 appearances in which he has scored 1 goal and provided 2 assists. Writing on Twitter, Romano said: "Manchester City are in advanced talks to extend Fernandinho’s contract for one more season, until June 2022. "Negotiations progressing as reported by Mike McGrath of the Telegraph - new contract not signed or completely agreed yet, but ‘work in progress’ with his agents."
