Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed the obstacle in Real Madrid's pursuit of Kai Havertz as Chelsea's price tag.
The talks about Real Madrid's interest in new strikers, including Kai Havertz and Harry Kane intensified upon Karim Benzema's and Mariano Diaz' exit from the club. Reportedly the Blues have €75 million as the asking price for their German striker.
According to Romano, the La Liga champions' board appreciates the 23-year-old and is keen to make a move, but the price he has is high above their intentions and expectations. Havertz's situation is set to be thoroughly discussed in the coming days when Chelsea will be expecting more clubs to approach them.
The Merengues have been faced with almost the same amount of money that Chelsea had to pay Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 to sign Havertz. The 23-year-old's price tag for a move to Stamford Bridge was €75.8 million.
