EXCLUSIVE: Portugal U19 and Benfica B forward Goncalo Ramos on EURO U19: "I believe it’s a great opportunity to show my work"

Portugal U19 side reached the final of UEFA European Under-19 Championship for the third time in a row. In the 18th edition of the tournament, Felipe Ramos’ side beat Armenia (4-0) and Italy (3-0) and held a 1-1 draw with Spain in the group stage. The semi-final game for the Portuguese youngster was against the Republic of Ireland and they beat them with a score of 4-0. Victor Ferreira opened the score in the 31st minute of the match with a penalty goal, but the man of the match was Benfica B and Portugal U19 forward Goncalo Ramos who scored three goals afterwards. Ramos scored a goal in the first match of the tournament against Italy and now he has four goals on his name in four matches. In an exclusive interview with Vbetnews, Ramos was excited: “It was a fantastic game I don’t have words to describe this match. We did a wonderful performance, but the most important thing is that we reached the final.” As we mentioned before, Portugal reached the final of the tournament for the third time in a row. The pressure is high on youngsters as they are looking to defend their title in the game against Spain. “It motivates us even more but we want to relax; we will work hard to win in the final,” said Ramos. The 18-year-old Portuguese is currently the top scorer of the tournament with four goals and he is looking forward to scoring more: “I want to score more goals as much as I can, but the most important for me is the team.” Ahead of the final, the forwards summarized the organization of the tournament as Armenia hosted it for the first time. “The organization have been fantastic the stadium are full of fans everything is amazing. I like the country a lot but it is quite hot,” said the player. Ramos is preparing for the final but he is looking forward to making it to Benfica’s first team: “I believe it’s a great opportunity to show my work but it’s not my decision its club’s decision.” The final of EURO U19 between Spain U19 and Portugal U19 will take place on Saturday, July 27 at Republican Stadium.
