ESPN: Barcelona have three candidates to create a competition for Alba: Alaba is top target

According to what has been reported by ESPN, Barcelona target Bayern Munich’s David Alaba as Catalan side wants to create a competition for Jordi Alba.

27-year-old Austrian international is interested in moving to Barcelona. Alaba has reportedly offered himself to La Liga champions.

Barca consider Alaba not only as a left back, but also as an alternative option in the center, as David can play the same role as did Eric Abidal back in 2010s, while playing for Blaugrana.

“The player is interested in coming. It’s a complicated operation, but not an impossible one.” a source has told ESPN.

Two other candidates are Junior Firpo from Real Betis and Philipp Max from Augsburg.

Firpo is also linked with Liverpool and Manchester United. 22-year-old Spain international has impressed with his performances last season and is now on the radar of many tops. Junior has a 40 m release clause in his contract.

Max, who started his career in Bayern Munich academy, has provided 13 assists during 2017/18 season. Last season he’s also playing as a winger and scored 4 goals adding 4 assists.
