Jan Vertonghen sends a message to Liverpool and Man City ahead of the new season

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen thinks Spurs are ready to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for Premier League title in 2019/20 season. North London side finished 4th last season, and Mauricio Pochettino's side was 26 points and 27 points away from Liverpool and Man City respectively. Belgium international thinks the reason behind the failure of Spurs to remain in title race was the amount of injuries. At some point, Spurs were without Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Son Heung-min and other star player. “We had a couple of injuries, we lost a couple of games around March and April that we shouldn’t have lost, and then Man City and Liverpool kept winning theirs” Vertonghen told Sky Sports “We got too far away from them to compete for the Premier League, but I think we learned a lot from that", he added. “I don’t think they (Liverpool & Man City) will go like this again this season, like they did last season. Hopefully we can jump into the race. “There are more than six big teams, but probably six teams that want to challenge for the Premier League, and we all know who they are. "I consider ourselves one of the best three or four teams in the league.” 32-year-old concluded. Source - Sky Sports
