England boss Gareth Southgate fires warning at Chelsea

England head coach Gareth Southgate has sent warning to Chelsea over their handling of Callum Hudson-Odoi situation at Stamford Bridge. The 20-year-old has played 99 games for the Blues and is likely to reach his century when they play Aston Villa on Saturday. But Hudson-Odoi has only been used sparingly under Thomas Tuchel. And Southgate says he has still got the youngster in his mind and will discuss the situation with Under-21s boss Lee Carsley over time.
“We are tracking Callum, he’s a player we know can be a top player and he’s still so young. He’s part of that 2000 age group who still have huge possibilities ahead of them," said Three Lions boss.   “It’s always difficult for a young player when you’ve been with the seniors and then you’re not with the seniors to make that climb back, but that’s the challenge for him.   “I think the Under-21s can be an important part of his development. There was probably a lot going on for him at the moment around that September transfer window as well, in that period.   "With young players, it’s up to them, you can see his talent.   "His application with us has been excellent but, like any player, you have to work hard to improve."
As Reece James is suspended for his handball-dismissal at Liverpool before the international break, there is a place at right-wing-back where Hudson-Odoi has played before, so he might be given a start by Tuchel. Source - Daily and Sunday Express Join us on Telegram!/ Follow us on Twitter!
