Unai Emery has been handed a task of shipping into shape Arsenal squad soon after he appointed as the Gunners’ manager.
New defenders will be near the top of his wanted list with Laurent Koscielny out until Christmas and Per Mertesacker having hung up his boots.
It has been reported that the first man to arrive at the north London club this summer is Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
According to
Sky Sport reporter Kaveh Solhekol the Greece international is on his way.
“The head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is very powerful even in the last window,” Solhekol said.
“He was the driving force behind the players they were signing.
“Arsenal are looking for a centre-half. They have been looking at the German market.
"Talks with Sokratis Papastathopoulos at Borussia Dortmund are very close… Centre-half is a priority,” the reporter added.
