Tottenham have made an opening offer for Barcelona sensation Lucas de Vega as Jose Mourinho looks to add strength in depth to his squad this summer, according to AS. Spurs have put together a bid of around £2million for the central midfielder.
De Vega has a £90m release clause despite having yet to feature in a first-team match. Barcelona are hoping to keep hold of the 20-year-old.
The Brazilian feels his development would be best served to play regular minutes and that may only happen if he leaves the Nou Camp. Barca will reluctantly accept an offer of around £7m - but they want £3.6m of that fee paid upfront.
The La Liga giants also want a buy-back clause included in the deal. Tottenham must decide quickly if they want to improve their offer for De Vega as a host of other clubs are monitoring his situation.
