Aston Villa players are in talks with clubs chiefs to reduce the wages, The Daily Telegraph reports. Jack Grealish, Tyrone Mings, Tom Heaton, James Chester and Neil Taylor have been in discussions with Christian Purslow, Villa’s chief executive officer.  Villa squad reportedly feels relaxed over the pay-cuts, as they have expressed their desire not to furlough the non-playing staff due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Several clubs, including Premier League leaders Liverpool, have earlier decided to use the government paying scheme to furlough the non-playing staff. Merseyside club has been under criticism thereafter, and they finally overturn their decision to avoid further criticism.  Newcastle United and Norwich City are the two Premier League sides that have agreed to use the government job retention scheme.  Aston Villa, meanwhile, are not considering this approach and there have reportedly been “constructive talks” over the wage reduction.  Currently, Villa players, except for Jack Grealish, earn a maximum of £45.000/week. The overall amount of wage per season is £65 mln.
