Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino is keen on signing a replacement for Kieran Trippier, who is set to leave the club.
The player has been linked with a move to Italy and his Argentine boss is unlikely to stand in his way after poor season in north London.
Pochettino didn’t sign any player in past two seasons but it seems he is now eager to bring in a right-back.
According to Sky Sports, Japan international Hiroki Sakai could be short-term option in this position.
The 29-year-old has impressed for Marseille and could provide strong competition for the under performing Trippier and Serge Aurier.
The former Hannover 96 man has played 56 times for his country and been to two World Cups.
He has made 122 appearances since joining Marseille in 2016, including five assists in 32 appearances in all competitions last season.
