Manchester City let Jadon Sancho join Borussia Dortmund and now they might be regretting their decision. City sold the youngster and got a decent fee, moreover, they added potential payments for first-team appearances.
However, they will still go under criticism and they decided to develop new youngsters, who could get as much recognition as Sancho.
A recent study from Youth Hawk found that City and Chelsea have this season produced the highest number of players (23) for England youth teams from U16 to U21 level. Interestingly, nearly half of City's total is included of players brought in from other English academies between U13 and U16 level.
The City academy talents closest to the first team - Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Tommy Doyle made senior debuts this season after impressing on the summer tour.
City are also taking advantage of their scouting network across the world to look for talent; exciting Dutch winger Jayden Braaf has already been compared to Sancho and Brazilian right-back Yan Couto has a chance of making the first-team squad for next season.
