Ian Wright has acknowledged that Arsenal defender William Saliba would easily fit into Real Madrid's current team.
Gunners faced a significant challenge with Manchester City in town, and despite the absence of key players from both sides, substitute Gabriel Martinelli's impact made the difference as his shot deflected off Nathan Ake's face and left Ederson with no chance.
The match's crucial aspect was expected to be how Arsenal handled the prolific Erling Haaland, and the fact that the Norwegian striker had few opportunities was a testament to the solid defensive partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.
Wright now believes that Saliba would seamlessly fit into Real Madrid's squad, and many would find it difficult to disagree. The young French defender has had an outstanding season and could arguably be one of the best center-backs in the league.
Speaking about the 22-year-old, Wright shared his thoughts during an episode of the Wrighty's House Podcast (via TBR Football), saying:
“I know we’ve had games where they’ve still scored against us but Saliba is just getting better.
“You have to look at him and think to yourself, he could play for Real Madrid right now, no danger. He could play for any of them, could play for anyone he wants," he added.
