Gary Neville has drawn parallels between Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus and Wayne Rooney, expressing doubts about the Brazilian striker's suitability as the primary choice at the Emirates.
Despite a lively performance in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool, Jesus failed to score. Neville, acknowledging Jesus's impact since joining from Manchester City for £45 million last year, suggested that he should be the second-choice striker.
While praising Jesus and likening him to Rooney and Carlos Tevez, Neville raised concerns about his goal-scoring record, with just three goals in 13 Premier League appearances this season for the 26-year-old.
He said on his podcast, via TBR Football: “I actually love Jesus, I really love him. Honestly, I think he’s a brilliant player, I’d love to play with him. He’s got a bit of Rooney in him, he’s got a bit of Tevez in him, he’s got sort of everything.
"But, he hasn’t got that sort of Instinct in front of goal, and sometimes, he’s everywhere you don’t want him to be.”
