While Manchester City were earning their ticket to the Champions League final against Real Madrid, key Citizen Kevin De Bryune told his manager to "shut up" after frustrating comments.
Last night, the Etihad Stadium burst with celebrations as Guardiola's side made beating the Spanish giants with a 4-0 score look so easy. The Portugal international Bernardo Silva stunned everyone by opening the score with a brace and putting his team ahead in the first half. After pressuring Madrid with brilliant shots on the target, Man City players Manuel Akanji and later Julian Alvarez secured their win with an unprecedented difference. The Argentine striker netted the goal in the 91st minute, just two minutes after being substituted to join the match.
Mid-game, however, Guardiola expressed his unhappiness by De Bryune, by shouting "Pass the ball" to him multiple times. The Belgian midfielder's fiery "Shut up! Shut up!" were caught on camera by fans and sports journalists attending the game.
In an interview with Spanish broadcaster Movistar after the match, Guardiola expressed his discontent with his team during the time of the argument.
"At 2-0 we were too hasty. Right after the break, [Ilkay] Gundogan lost possession, Kevin [De Bruyne] made three unnecessary transitions, and we were rushing when we should have been doing the opposite, patiently breaking them down and turning the game in our favor," explained the Spanish coach.
He acknowledged that such situations are normal when the game gets intense, and although it had its challenges, he believed overall Man City had an exceptional performance.
