Liverpool have targeted Sao Paulo midfielder Igor Gomes amid Ajax interest.
According to
Esporte Interativo, the 21-year-old, who is labelled as "The new Kaka", will cost at around £20 million. The report claims that Jurgen Klopp's side have already made contact with the player’s agent for the possible move to Anfield.
Gomes has played at Under-23s and Under-20s levels, making 44 first-team appearances and scoring five goals.
Sao Paulo coach Fernando Diniz recently opened up on the player. He told
AS:
"With his age it is always going to be difficult for the team to keep him. If I say what I want, it is that he could stay as long as possible. He is a player of very rare quality in Brazilian football, perhaps worldwide."
