Aymeric Laporte has suffered from ongoing injuries in the 2019/20 season. He has been excellent since joining City from Athletic Bilbao for £57million in 2018, winning the Premier League twice since moving to England.
However, his health problems this season have played a major role in City’s poor performances. Laporte played the first few games of the season but then suffered a serious knee injury in City’s 4-0 win over Brighton on August 31. The Frenchman came back in January and played three games before suffering another injury.
Laporte was expected to be out for a month with that hamstring injury meaning he should be fit to return when football resumes. City host Arsenal on Wednesday, June 17 as the top-flight recommended.
He may need to feature in some warm-up games before he’ll be fit enough to play in the Premier League but, as it stands, he is set to face the Gunners.
