Alan Shearer has revealed that Arsenal's Leandro Trossard expressed his displeasure at not being in the starting lineup for the game against Everton on Sunday.
Although the scoreline was 1-0 in favor of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta's team displayed a more dominant performance at Goodison Park. While the Gunners didn't create numerous clear-cut scoring opportunities, they maintained possession for most of the game and kept Everton at bay.
Gabriel Martinelli initially appeared to have scored for the Gunners, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside in the buildup. Unfortunately, Martinelli sustained an injury after the disallowed goal, potentially ruling him out of the North London derby.
Leandro Trossard was brought in to replace Martinelli, and Shearer suggests that Trossard was frustrated about not being in the starting lineup. The pundit made this revelation on The Rest Is Football Podcast following Arsenal's victory over Everton over the weekend.
“Well that’s the problem managers have got with squads the size that they are nowadays. We interviewed [Leandro] Trossard after the game yesterday at Arsenal and I asked him that question because you can tell that he’s not happy," he said, via TBR Football.
“Do you have to accept now as a footballer that in a big team that you’re going to be rotated? “You might play on a Saturday and then be rested the next weekend. I would have hated that, hated it beyond belief to be left out.”
