Edwin Van der Sar has signed a new long-term contract with Ajax after the rumors of returning to Old Trafford.
The Dutchman won four Premier League titles and the Champions League during his spell in Manchester United.
Recently he has been linked with returning to Old Trafford for the club’s new technical director role.
However, the 49-year-old has signed a new four-year contract with Ajax which will keep him at the Johan Cruijff Arena until 2023.
Speaking on his new deal, Van der Sar told the official club website: “Actually, I was not even aware that my term expired. And I feel I am not ready at Ajax yet. So I’m happy with the confidence. Our common goal is to join the European top with Ajax 1. This includes healthy business operations that are focused on national and international growth and based on the values that belong to Ajax. That is ambitious and I love that. Together with the rest of the management team I am happy to continue to get that together as a whole. We are well on the way, but we are not there yet.”
