Cristiano Ronaldo's Champions League record - can Lionel Messi match it?

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 125th Champions League goal in his 161st appearance against Ajax in the quarterfinal first leg clash in Amsterdam. The 34-year-old is now 17 goals ahead of his nearest rival Lionel Messi. However, that is not the only record that Ronaldo holds. Cristiano Ronaldo has averaged higher goals per 90 ratios in the UEFA Champions League KO stages than he has in the Group Stage (0.78). Conversely, Lionel Messi averages a much higher goal ratio within the Group Stage compared to the KO stages. Ronaldo has scored five times in eight appearances this season, some 12 short of his seasonal best of 17, notched in 2013-14 when he guided Real to the trophy. Can you see Ronaldo stopping any time soon? https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1116273297321287680
