Conor McGregor announces return date after revealing he’d fight behind closed doors

Conor McGregor has confirmed his intentions to return to the UFC in July. McGregor beat Donal Cerrone in January in the main event of UFC 246, after a 15-month lay-off. McGregor made it clear he was keen to return to his active ways in 2020. His team entering talks over a summer showdown with Justin Gaethje in February. But before Gaethje he was paired up to face Tony Ferguson. Gathje beat Ferguson on their fight, which took place behind closed doors at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The Irishman was seemingly impressed by what he saw. “See you in July,” McGregor tweeted alongside Irish and American flag emojis. Previously, he revealed he’d happily fight behind closed doors. "The fans make the sport!” he wrote. “Watching the other night I was against going in without them. But it will be my f*****g pleasure to display the power I possess with zero background noise for them.” Source: Express
