Chelsea submit new Kai Havertz bid and Bayer Leverkusen could accept deal today

Chelsea have made an improved offer of £77million for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz. The two clubs are set to meet today to try and get the deal over the line. Leverkusen were holding out for a £90m fee but Chelsea's initial approach was £20m less. But both clubs have shown signs of willingness to reach a compromise with Frank Lampard's side now upping their bid. The German side have lowered their asking price to £86m which means there is now just £9m difference. German transfer insider Jan Aage Fjortoft provided the update on social media. "Havertz latest," he tweeted. "Chelsea have offered 85 mill Euro. Leverkusen will accept 95 mill. Negotiations ongoing." Senior Chelsea and Leverkusen chiefs have been trying to thrash out terms all week and their meetings will continue today. Personal terms are thought to have already been completed with Havertz set to sign a five-year contract with the Blues. Source: Express
