Chelsea fear N'Golo Kante has season-ending injury after Maurizio Sarri gamble

Maurizio Sarri has admitted he made a mistake to select N’Golo Kante for the game against Watford as the France international now faces a battle to be fit for the Europa League Final — if Chelsea make it. The Blues host Eintracht Frankfurt in a semi-final second leg on Thursday after a 1-1 draw in Germany. Kante limped out of the Blues’ 3-0 win over Watford after just 10 minutes. Boss Sarri, who expects the France international to miss both the Frankfurt decider and Sunday’s Premier League finale away at his old club Leicester, said: “The problem is with his hamstring — but I made a mistake because, probably, today he had to rest. Sometimes it’s very difficult to put such an important player like Kante or [Eden] Hazard on the bench, but you have to do it. Otherwise, you take a risk – and I have to say I made a mistake. It is very difficult for him to recover for the next two matches, but we want to play in the Europa League final so he is lucky. We have to try and recover him for the final if we get there.”
