Chelsea are reportedly closing in on signing Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell. Frenk Lampard's side have been active during the summer transfer window. The Blues have already secured the transfers of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.
According to
the Times, Chelsea are ‘closing in’ on the transfer of Chilwell after making a ‘breakthrough’ in negotiations over a potential fee. It is understood that the Foxes originally wanted £80million for the defender.
As it stands, the world record transfer fee for a left-back currently is £68m, which Bayern Munich spent on Lucas Hernandez in 2019. The deal for Chilwell, however, could still break that record.
