BREAKING: Manchester United confirm Eric Bailly is out for the season

Manchester United have confirmed Eric Bailly has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with medial ligament damage in his right knee. Bailly was recalled for his first appearance since March 6 in the Premier League draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford but required lengthy treatment following a 68th-minute challenge and was replaced by Marcos Rojo during Premier League 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford. A statement from the club reads: “We can confirm that Manchester United defender Eric Bailly suffered a medial ligament injury on his right knee during Sunday’s Premier League match against Chelsea at Old Trafford. The problem means that the Ivory Coast international will not play for the Reds again this season, missing the remaining top-flight matches against Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City. Furthermore, Bailly is also now unable to play in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament.”
