Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo received his first Champions League red card after 154 appearances in the tournament.
The Portuguese star was sent off less than half an hour into his side’s Champions League clash at Valencia on Wednesday night. He clashed with Jeison Murillo with the Juventus man appearing to kick out before pulling the hair of the defender as he sat on the ground.
Ronaldo has been left sweating over whether he will miss an emotional reunion with Manchester United.
Others, though, feel that Ronaldo gave the referee a decision to make with his actions.
However, journalist Edu Aguiree-speaking on behalf of Spanish TV show El Chiringuito-has come up with a bizarre conspiracy theory.
Aguirre argues Ronaldo may have been sent off as revenge for not attending UEFA’s awards gala last month.
Ronaldo didn’t attend the awards ceremony, according to Spanish newspaper AS, because he knew he wasn’t going to win the evening’s most coveted award: the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year 2017-18.
