Belgium provided fresh injury update on Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard ahead of Italy

Belgium have been handed a fresh injury update on Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne, as they both will face a battle to be fit in time for their Euro 2020 quarter-final tie with Italy. Roberto Martinez has confirmed that none of them trained on Thursday, but that he will “take until the last minute” before deciding whether they can be involved in Friday night’s fixture. “They couldn’t train with the group yet,” Belgium boss said. “But it’s been another 24 hours and it’s been positive. “Every day that goes by, we see an improvement. We know we are fighting against time. We will take until the last minute (to decide on their involvement). “We are in tournament mode and by being with the team here, we are trying to get them fit as quickly as we can. “If they are to miss the (Italy) game, we’d like them to be available for the next matches. It will be hard to recover Eden, he’s suffered a muscle injury, De Bruyne has a different problem. “A decision is up to the medical staff, we’ll decide once we’ve spoken with them.”   Martinez previously claimed that Hazard and De Bruyne would not feature against Italy, after both suffered injuries in the round-of-16 win over Portugal, but appears to have softened his stance in the build-up to the quarter-final.
