The Turkish Football Federation requested UEFA to host the 2020 European Championship.
According to the Spanish AS, the main argument for holding the EURO 2020 in Turkey is a small number of officially reported cases of coronavirus in the country (less than 10 people).
The report also claims, that good relations between Turkish President Recep Erdogan and UEFA president Alexander Cheferin can help in making a decision.
In addition, Turkey previously confirmed their interest in hosting EURO 2020, however, UEFA decided to hold the tournament in 12 different cities around Europe. But, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the holding of the tournament is under danger.
UEFA will announce their decision regarding EURO 2020, following their meeting with stakeholders on Thursday, March 17.
