Amir Khan's ominous warning to Anthony Josuha after Andy Ruiz Jr defeat

Photo/GettyImages  Former world champion Amir Khan , who was knocked out by rank outsider Breidis Prescott in 2008, has warned Anthony Joshua boxing will “throw him under the bus” following his catastrophic defeat by Andy Ruiz Jr. 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist and former IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight boxing champion Joshua was knocked out in the seventh round at Madison Square Garden Saturday night by massive betting odds underdog Andy Ruiz Jr. Ruiz handed Joshua his first professional loss and shocked the boxing world with the upset. Khan said: “Anthony came across well after the fight, but mentally you are upset, and it kills you to bits. He was the heavyweight champion, but I bet he cried that night. When you lose your titles, it’s like losing your babies. It’s a very dark place when you get beat, and it doesn’t make it easy when only a handful of people stay with you. “The big contracts also leave you. I lost Reebok, who paid me a lot of money – they washed their hands and said, ‘See you later’. Boxing is the hardest and most brutal sport – they throw you under the bus. Even though you’re already upset, they’ll put the cherry on top by taking things away from you.” A rematch is now likely to take place in October or November later this year, but Khan fears his countryman has made a grave error of judgement. “When I heard he is jumping into the rematch, I thought it’s the worst mistake he could make,” Khan said. “Ruiz will be full of confidence and Joshua is going to be on edge, and on his back foot, knowing he can be hurt and put down. “I can’t believe promoter Eddie Hearn is putting him straight back in the mix. What he needs is an easy knockout win – maybe even two – and then get the fight back.”
