A Bola: Arsenal keen on highly-rated wonderkid but face competition

Arsenal are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon wonderkid Nuno Mendes, according to Portuguese publication A Bola. The 18-year-old has pushed himself to the first team and is capable of playing as a left-back or on the left of midfield. The report claims Mikel Arteta's side have joined the race to sign the youngster amid the reported interest from Liverpool, Juventus and AC Milan. Mendes has a £41m release clause so that the Gunners would have to face a huge transfer fee, with Sporting highly rating their player.
