Mari, Xhaka and Luiz: Arsenal injury news and return dates ahead of West Ham clash

Arsenal have started the Premier League season with an impressive 3 - 0 victory over Fulham last Saturday, while this weekend they will face West Ham in a London derby. And ahead of the clash the Gunners have received an injury boost, with Pablo Mari close to return to the game in the coming weeks. The Spanish defender had to miss current games due to his ankle injury but is expected to come back at the end of the month. Meanwhile, Granit Xhaka is doubtful to be fit for the upcoming match, after picking up ankle injury last weekend. David Luiz is also likely to be out of the game as the defender has injury concerns due to suffering a neck complaint during the Community Shield victory against Liverpool on August 29. Another defender possible to miss the London derby is Sokratis. The latter has sustained a mild strain to his right calf in training but should return to first team training this week. Calum Chambers was sidelined since the home defeat to Chelsea on December 29, while he is expected to return to the pitch in the coming weeks, after recovering from an ACL injury. Shkodran Mustafi will join the first team in October, following a minor medical procedure he underwent after suffering a hamstring injury in FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City. Gabriel Martinelli will need some time to get fit as he underwent surgery on his knee in June and returned to London from Brazil last month to step up praparations. Emile Smith Rowe's had to miss the chance to challenge for a spot in the squad due to an injury to his shoulder. He is currently having to wear a protective sling in order to protect his arm as soon as doctors give him the all-clear to remove it.
