Zinedine Zidane has already made feelings clear on Manchester United job amid Erik ten Hag sack rumours

Zinedine Zidane has already shared his stance on the possibility of taking the Manchester United managerial position.

The pressure on Erik ten Hag increased after a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, which was described as a "footballing lesson" by Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards. United have lost five out of their first ten Premier League games and currently sit eighth in the table, nine points behind City.

As previously reported, if United decide to part ways with Ten Hag, Zidane, the former Real Madrid manager and a World Cup, European Championship, and Champions League winner as a player, is the frontrunner to take over at Old Trafford. However, Zidane, who won three consecutive Champions League titles during his time at Real Madrid, has been without a coaching role since ending his second stint as Real Madrid boss in the summer of 2021.

In 2022, he disclosed that while he is eager to return to coaching, personal aspirations play a significant role in his decision-making process. Additionally, Zidane noted that the language barrier has been a hindrance to him pursuing prominent roles in the Premier League, such as the Manchester United job.

In an interview with L’Equipe, Zidane stated his perspective, saying: “When people say to me: 'Do you want to go to Manchester?' I understand English but I don't fully master it.

“I know that there are coaches who go to clubs without speaking the language, but I work differently. To win, many elements come into play. It's a global context. Me, I know what I need to win.”
