Gaeth Bale has heaped praise on Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey amid his heroic performance against Ukraine.
The Dragons celebrated a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to Andriy Yarmolenko’s own goal in the 34th minute.
The Burnley keeper, who only made two appearances for the club, made nine saves in Cardiff Stadium to help his country book a ticket to World Cup 2022 in Qatar after a 64-year wait.
Speaking via Evening Standard, the Wales captain hailed the 35–year-old, calling his performance the ‘best’ he has ever seen.
“Can I just say one thing first, this guy’s performance is the best I have ever seen to date from a goalkeeper.
“He doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves. [It was] not just nine saves – they were important saves, big saves, they kept us in the game.
“I know people talk about other keepers, but I would not swap him [for any goalkeeper] in the world.”
