Wimbledon 2019 order of play and results for men’s events: Nadal faces Kyrgios, Federer V Clarke

The iconic tennis championship Wimbledon 2019 takes place at the All England Club over the next couple of weeks as we look out for the new champion. Once again, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are the three favourites for success in the men’s event. Top seed Djokovic started his defence of title by beating Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets as the pair opened up the tournament on Centre Court. The 32-year-old Serb was never in serious trouble during a 6-3 7-5 6-3 win. The Serb cruised into the Wimbledon third round as he needed just one hour and 33 minutes to beat American Denis Kudla 6-3 6-2 6-2. Djokovic will face Hubert Hurkacz in the third round. Federer moved through the gears to win 3-6 6-1 6-2 6-2 on Centre Court against South African debutant Lloyd Harris and reach the Wimbledon second round. The Swiss will face Britain’s Jay Clarke next. Third seed Nadal faced fewer problems against Japanese qualifier Yuichi Sugita, winning 6-3 6-1 6-3 to set up a meeting with Nick Kyrgios. RESULTS Men’s singles – second round

Nick Kyrgios V Rafael Nadal

Kyrgios beat Nadal earlier this year at the Mexico Open before calling the Spaniard “ super salty” in a press conference. Rafael Nadal was barely on court before dismissing Japan’s Yuichi Sugita and progressing on to mouth-watering second-round tie Kyrgios. The Spaniard shares a 3-3 record with Nick Kyrgios, nine years his junior, with Nadal typically taking both victories on clay but Kyrgios winning their previous Wimbledon tie and their most recent meeting. According to Vbet, Rafael Nadal is the favourite to win the match. Nick Kyrgios: 3.55 Rafael Nadal: 1.32 Image Source: ATP

Jay Clarke V Roger Federer

This will be the biggest match of Jay Clarke’s career as he will face Federer on Centre Court for the first time, having already beaten his own Wimbledon Record. The Swiss will be determined not to drop another set for a while at this tournament. The 37-year-old last exited Wimbledon at the second round stage in a shock defeat to Sergiy Stakhovsky in 2013 in a year plagued by injuries. According to Vbet,  Roger Federer is the favourite to win the match.
