Wimbledon 2019 action continues on Monday with more star-studded fixtures at this year’s Championships. Once again, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are the three favourites for success in the men’s event.
Top seed Djokovic started his defence of title by beating Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets as the pair opened up the tournament on Centre Court. The 32-year-old Serb was never in serious trouble during a 6-3 7-5 6-3 win. The Serb cruised into the Wimbledon third round as he needed just one hour and 33 minutes to beat American Denis Kudla 6-3 6-2 6-2. In the third round, for two sets, 22-year-old Hubert Hurkacz gave Novak Djokovic all he could handle before eventually succumbing to the top seed, 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-4.
Federer moved through the gears to win 3-6 6-1 6-2 6-2 on Centre Court against South African debutant Lloyd Harris and reach the Wimbledon second round. Federer beat British wildcard Jay Clarke in straight sets to reach Wimbledon’s third round. The second seed, 37, was tested in the second set but otherwise dominated the 20-year-old, ranked 169th, to win 6-1 7-6 (7-3) 6-2. Federer won Saturday's third-round clash 7-5, 6-2, 7-6 (4) in two hours and five minutes on Centre Court.
Third seed Nadal faced fewer problems against Japanese qualifier Yuichi Sugita, winning 6-3 6-1 6-3. The No. 3 seed and two-time champion outlasted Kyrgios, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(3), in a circus-like atmosphere on Centre Court to advance to the third round. In the third round, the Spaniard gave a masterclass in defenestrating the two-times semi-finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-2, 6-3, 6-2.
Joao Sousa V Rafael Nadal
This is just second time that Sousa finds himself in the fourth round of any Grand Slam event and he would be looking forward to making it count in possibly the biggest match of his career so far. The Portuguese and the Spaniard have faced off just twice in the past with Nadal winning both of their encounters with relative ease.
It would take something extraordinary and spectacular to take down Nadal. While the Spaniard does start as firm favourite against Sousa, can the Portuguese put up a remarkable show on display to play the best match of his career so far?

Matteo Berrettini V Roger Federer
Federer will be the heavy favourite but his opponent Berrettini is one of the most improved players on the tour this year, gaining over 50 ranking places in the past 12 months. Berrettini is through to the round of 16 is just his second Wimbledon appearance and sets his own Grand Slam record, with a third-round exit at last year’s Roland-Garros beaten. The Italian will cause Federer all sorts of problems in their round of 16 matches where they meet for the first time.

Novak Djokovic V Ugo Humbert
This time No. 1 in the world will face off against one of the youngest players at the tournament who hasn’t lost a single set yet. Humbert was ranked just inside the top 300 this time last year but looks to have established himself as a solid top 100 player in rapid time.
This season is only his first one playing on grass and he’s won 6 out of 10 matches played which is a great result for a debut season. Humbert can enjoy the biggest match of his life, and maybe take a set in the process, but Djokovic will prevail.
