2022 is the year of the FIFA World Cup to favor many football fans around the world. This year's World Cup was held in Qatar, while the next one - in 2026 - will be hosted by the North American trio: Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Ahead of it, the FIFA council is confirmed to approve the new format for the upcoming competition in 2026. As 48 teams will participate in the tournament in 12 groups of four. The top two teams and eight third-placed sides will qualify to play in the last 32 knock-out rounds.
The 2030 Mundial will mark the centennial of the first World Cup. In 1930, for the first time, World Cup was held, in Uruguay, where the hosts conquered the first title. And now one hundred years later World Cup has become one of the most watched and anticipated events in the whole world.
Who will host the 2030 World Cup?
The 2030 World Cup will be hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, with Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay playing their initial matches in their home countries to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the tournament's inception. This historic event will mark the first time the World Cup takes place on three different continents.
According to Cope, Spain will host matches at 11 stadiums, Portugal at 3, and Morocco at 1. However, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation is reportedly hoping for more. In Spain, the 2030 World Cup matches are confirmed to be held at stadiums such as the "Santiago Bernabéu" and "Metropolitano" in Madrid, "Camp Nou" in Barcelona, and "La Cartuja" in Sevilla.
There have been a couple of bids to FIFA in order to host the Mundial for 2030. Four of the bids have been confirmed by FIFA: Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay; Portugal, Spain; Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Serbia; and Morocco. While the rest of four have been denied: England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Wales; Egypt; Cameroon; and Colombia, Ecuador, Peru. There are reportedly more chances for the South American trio of Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, as one hundred years later the World Cup can return to Uruguay.

The South American trio will play their first games at home to celebrate 100 years since the first edition. The first time World Cup ever took place was in 1930 in Uruguay. Uruguay became champions, while Argentina were runner ups.

World Cup bidding process and selection of the host
The bidding process is set to officially begin in the first half of 2022 and the host nation (or nations) will be formally announced at the 74th FIFA Congress in 2024 - six years in advance of the tournament. Hosts will be selected by a vote taken by the FIFA Council, which is made up of members from the AFC, CAF, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, OFC and UEFA, as well as the FIFA president.
