Who could Manchester City face in the Club World Cup 2023

Manchester City will participate in the FIFA Club World Cup after winning the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history.

Their victory over Inter Milan secured them a place in the UEFA Super Cup and two editions of the Club World Cup. This triumph marked a historic achievement as the Citizens became the first team since Manchester United in 1999 to win the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League in a single season.

Under Pep Guardiola's management, the team has now won 14 trophies, including their first European title. Now they will strive to become world champions later this year by competing in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup. In addition, their victory in Istanbul also secured their participation in the expanded 32-team Club World Cup in 2025.

FIFA Club World Cup 2023 will take place in Saudi Arabia from 12 to 20 December and will feature seven teams. City will enter the tournament in the semi-final stage.

The participating clubs will include winners from various continental competitions such as the Copa Libertadores, Oceania Champions League, Asian Champions League, CONCACAF Champions League, African Champions League, and Saudi Arabian National League.

Along with City, Al Ahly, Al Ittihad, Auckland City, Leon, and Urawa Red Diamonds have all qualified for the upcoming tournament, as per FIFA. The Sky Blues cannot face the Copa Libertadores winners until the final, if they advance, due to seeding rules.

Pep Guardiola has previously won FIFA Club World Cup three times, twice with Barcelona and once with Bayern Munich.
