What will happen to Everton as Premier League suspended?

Today it has been confirmed that the Premier League has been suspended over the coronavirus outbreak. An emergency club meeting was held Friday morning, and it was "unanimously" decided to postpone play. Chief executive of the Premier League, Richard Masters indicated in a statement today that "despite the challenges" the intention is to try and complete the season and it seems that the plan is to delay the campaign rather than cancel it. "In this fast-moving environment, further updates will be provided when appropriate," he added. Premier League season Now the Premier League says that "intention of returning on 4 April, subject to medical advice and conditions at the time" and if that is the case, it would seem sensible to keep existing matches in place - and find new dates further down the line for those that have now been postponed. Everton's game against Liverpool next Monday night has been called off and will be rearranged. The Toffees could in theory then be back in action on Monday 6th April, at home to Leicester City. Team training In statements issued by football authorities today, it was mentioned that clubs would be making their own decisions on whether training goes ahead, as Chelsea and Everton presently self-isolating. That raises further questions, as a number of clubs will be unable to train over the course of the coming weeks and may not be at full fitness when football is scheduled to return. Players whose contracts end on June 30 There is a strong possibility the Premier League could run into the summer months, potentially creating a problem for players whose contracts end on June 30. The PFA say they have "relayed their concern", but there's no update on what will happen if players are put in this position just yet. Summer transfer window FIFA requires that the transfer window in the summer must be open for around 12 weeks, so it is currently scheduled to open for business shortly after the season is due to come to a close on 12th May. But new signings cannot be registered until the start of July, and are subsequently unable to feature for their new clubs until after that date. Should the season be extended into the summer, that raises further problems for the usual transfer window structure - especially as FIFA regulations currently state that a player cannot represent more than two clubs during the course of a single season.
