Several Tottenham players left the club in the January transfer window. Troy Parrott joined League One side Ipswich Town. Gedson Fernandes is set to make a loan move to Galatasaray. According to Football.london, Paulo Gazzaniga could be set for a January exit as Spanish side Elche are keen to sign him on loan. Exits for both would see two of Tottenham's non-homegrown players depart. Spurs have had a major problem with their high number of foreign players at the club over the past few years Rules state that clubs can have no more than 17 non-homegrown players in their Premier League and European squads, with Mourinho three over the limit in Europe already with Gedson, Gazzaniga and Joe Rodon not included. However, the rules slightly differ in terms of the Premier League as Matt Doherty, Ben Davies and Rodon are classed as homegrown due to their academy years in Ireland and Wales respectively as opposed to the European regulations where they are seen as non-homegrown players. A free foreign player spot in their 25-man squad would increase to two if Gazzaniga clinches a move to Elche. An exit for Gedson wouldn't change things for Spurs. While the potential departures of both Gazzaniga and Gedson would make a slight difference in the Premier League. It will not affect in the Europa League regarding the non-homegrown player problems.
