Emiliano Martinez enjoyed the perfect return to Arsenal on Sunday night. After a decade in north London, the 28-year-old left the Gunners permanently as he joined Aston Villa in a deal that could be worth £20m during the summer transfer window
Since joining Villa, the Argentine has been an ever-present under head coach Dean Smith. It was the first time Martinez had faced Arsenal and it turned out to be a memorable one. Villa shocked Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium by picking up all three points in a 3-0 victory.
Ahead of kick-off in north London, there was a special moment between the two goalkeepers, as spotted by Goal. Leno came out for his warm-up about 30 seconds after Martinez and immediately shouted “Emi”. To which the Argentine responded by giving his former team-mate a wave.
