Mehmet Aydin, who is believed to be one of the most promising starlets in German football has revealed his close relationship with Ilkay Gundogan.
The 19-year-old has made his Bundesliga debut for Schalke back in April, but he has been a regular for the club since their relegation.
The Manchester City star also spent some time in Schalke’s youth system, although he was a decade younger then than Aydin is now, while both players are also of Turkish descent.
Speaking to MV Online, the young midfielder has spoken about his close relationship with the Germany international.
“Ilkay Gündogan is like a big brother to me,” said the teenager.
“We talk very often. When I play a good game, he praises me. If I play a bad game, I can ask him for tips.”
Aydin then continued.
“He is the captain of Manchester City at the moment, you can learn a lot there.”
