Virgil Van Dijk: If we play like we did against Napoli on Sunday, we won’t win the Community Shield

Virgil Van Dijk is confident the team will be ready for the Community Shield match against Manchester City. Merseyside club will face Premier League champions at Wembley Stadium on August 4. This will be their first official match in 2019/20 campaign. Despite the poor results in pre-season and the latest defeat against Napoli (0-3), Netherlands national team star says there is still time to prepare. “Exactly (if the team will be ready). We have to be at our top level." Van Dijk said. “If we play like we did against Napoli on Sunday, we won’t win the Community Shield, it’s as simple as that. “But we have a good week to prepare ourselves with a friendly as well, which is good for the boys who are coming back. We will definitely be ready for City.” Dutchman added. Sadio Mane, Alisson Becker, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will soon return, but not all of them will be able to play against City. As reported earlier, Jurgen Klopp will be without Sadio Mane in Community Shield. Senegal international could be ready for UEFA Supercup against Chelsea, but he is yet to recover from injury. Salah, Alisson and Firmino, meanwhile, could return for the action, as Klopp can have almost the optimal squad against Pep Guardiola's side. Source - LiverpoolECHO
